GEOL 2525 Stable Isotope Geochemistry

Subject: GEOL
Catalog Number: 2525
Number of Credits: 3

This course will provide students with a thorough introduction to the stable isotope systematics of light elements (hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur). The course examines the fundamental concepts of isotope equilibrium and kinetics, physiochemical and biogenic mechanisms of isotope exchange, and the principles of mass spectrometry and stable isotope extraction techniques.Offered alternate years in the spring term. Lecture, 3 hours.
