Student Organizations

The department maintains an online resource center containing links to other sites, alumni news, a vector & raster map server, as well as other topics.

  • GeoClub:  A club that welcomes everyone interested in nature, with a special focus on the Earth.
  • Epsilon Eta Delta:  An all-genders fraternal organizaton that uses academics and service to foster awareness of the relationship between people and the environment.
  • Sigma Gamma Epsilon:  This is a geological honors society that seems to have gone dormant in favor of the more inclusive GeoClub.
  • Pitt Student Organizations:  Click here to search for others or see if any new ones have cropped up.  Try short terms like "env", "sust", or "geo" as well as full words.

    This site has great general information about the planets as well as some very good JPEGS from recent missions as well as Hubble Space Telescope (HST) images.

    This site has more text based information about the planets than the NSSDC site. Plus, there are GIF format images.

    The LPI is an excellent reference source for general and specific planetary information covering many topics as well as educational material for all levels. This site also has online information about the annual LPSC Conference.

    This site has lots of space exploration information and files.
  • CEPS 
    The Center for Earth and Planetary Studies at the Smithsonian Institution. CEPS is an excellent source of planetary image information.
