I conduct geospatial analyses to investigate questions of urbanization processes on forest ecosystems and their evolution, from energy extraction to urban human disturbance.  My research includes the development and application of modeling tools to characterize changes in slope stability in Pittsburgh due to forest pathogens, as well as changes to soil moisture following longwall mine subsidence. Currently I am pursing questions of long wall mine subsidence hydrological impacts on the moisture status of undermined forest canopies, utilizing Landsat 8 imagery. My work provides insight as well as tools to better understand and manage valuable forest resources.
