MAR 2026 - GES Volunteering at Frick Park

Group of people in park.

On Saturday, March 28, the Geology & Environmental Science Department, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, hosted a successful volunteer day at the Frick Environmental Center in Frick Park. Participants worked alongside Parks Conservancy staff on invasive plant management and ecological restoration site maintenance, contributing directly to the care and stewardship of Pittsburgh’s treasured park system.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this event meaningful and impactful. We were happy to have an essential role in connecting our department’s work to the broader community and advancing environmental stewardship in Pittsburgh.A special thanks to the GES Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and Brandon McCracken, Ecological Restoration Manager - Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, for helping to coordinate efforts for our department.

We look forward to next year to continuing the support of our mission of learning, service, and sustainability.  💚
