Giving Opportunities

The Department of Geology and Environmental Science depends on generous contributions from our alumni to help us provide grants and scholarships to deserving and eager students, fund research, support lecture series and speaker costs, and fund our current departmental needs as well as help us strategically position the department for future success.

 
Please consider a tax-deductible donation to the department or feel free to earmark your donation to one of the following:
  • Discretionary Departmental Gifts Fund A general fund that enables us to quickly respond to departmental needs. 
  • Norman K. Flint Memorial Field Geology Fund Commemorates Dr. Flint's inspirational teaching career by helping students offset summer field camp expenses. This memorial fund was initiated by family, friends, students, and colleagues of Dr. Flint.
  • Francis Dilworth Lidiak Memorial Fund Supports lecture series and invited speaker costs.
  • Henry Leighton Memorial Scholarship Fund Established by Dr. Helen Leighton Cannon, provides a permanent graduate scholarship awarded on merit and need.
  • Samuel B. Frazier (BS, 1949) Student Resource Fund Established by family and friends in honor of Samuel B. Frazier, the fund provides support for undergraduate educational expenses.
  • Harry J. Werner Oil Finder's Fund Initiated by Francesco Corona (BS, 1977, MS, 1980), the fund provides support for students preparing to meet the challenges of searching for energy resources.
  • Alvin J. Cohen Memorial Fund Supports students conducting basic research in meteoritics, mineralogy, and geochemistry.
  • Victor A. Schmidt Memorial Classroom Fund A memorial classroom fund in honor of Professor Schmidt.
  • Dr. J. Frederick and Ann Sarg Research Fund  Supports undergraduate and graduate students pursuing hands-on research projects and internships in the geosciences, with a preference for projects related to the development of energy resources
  • Edward and Carol Martello Lidiak Endowed Scholarship  Supports a merit-based tuition scholarship for students majoring in Geology or Environmental Geology.
