This course will focus on the most important volcanological aspects of the interaction of volcanoes with surrounding ice, including lava flows, pyroclastic rocks, and associated resedimented clastic rocks. We will discuss how such rocks record evidence of the former ice and how they differ from similar shallow submarine rocks. The class will include lectures, study of samples and discussion timeOffered upon student demand. Lecture, 3 hours.Prerequisites: GEOL 2750. Department Consent Required.2-3 Credits
