Congratulations to William Schuck (Environmental Science student) and his team (PI: Goeran Fiedler) for being awarded the 2024 Student Award for Sustainability in Healthcare Challenge for their project Eco-Engineering the Future: Sustainable Prosthetics for Sustainable Healthcare. William and a team of students are a research group under the mentorship of Dr. Goeran Fiedler, innovating prosthetic development with renewable material research to promote sustainability within the healthcare field are being funded by the generous Sustainability Office; research will begin in the spring semester. They are working to engineer prosthetic limbs made of 90% renewable material to provide a case study for the effectiveness of renewable materials in the healthcare sector. We will also study commercializing the processes and workflows.
